Google Keep

GOOGLE KEEP Google Keep is a life-saver for a busy teacher. It is one of the G Suite apps I use ALL the time. What is it? It is a simple note-taking service that is available as a Chrome extension, website, and app on a phone that works seamlessly with other G Suite tools. How do I use it? For a nice overview of how you can use Google Keep in your classroom, take a look at this post by Tessa Maguire . She is an elementary teacher and explains how she uses Google Keep every day.  How do I start using it? I created a short video over Google Keep and how I use it. You can access it here.   In addition, I have created a site that lists everything you need to know about Google Keep. It includes a link to a step-by-step tutorial from Google Learning Center, 7 Ninja Tricks from Matt Miller, Tips and tricks from Hello Teacher, and even a way to have students use Google Keep for research. You can access all of it here.   Want even more ideas? Alice Keeler shares ...

JUST READ: A Google Chrome Extension There are many Chrome Extensions I used every day for different purposes. One of them that I would like to share with you is called Just Read . What does it do? With one click of the extension, it will remove all of those annoying ads, pop-ups, distractions, and comments from a website allowing you to read the article in a much better format. How can I use this in my class? How many of us would like to show the students an article from an online site without all of the ad’s being in the way? This extension allows you to do so in a very easy manner. Just Read does have a premium on top of the free version. The premium version allows you to save and share the article in the clean and readable style. This is not the only Chrome Extension out there to help make the article more readable. SCREENCASTIFY + FEEDBACK = Wonderful Things One of my favorite Chrome Extensions is Screencastify. It is so easy to use and comes with a free and paid version. I have found it is the best way to communicate with staff and students when it comes to answering technology questions. But I never thought of using it as a way to provide feedback to a student before I read the Twitter post by Jake Miller. Jake Miller has created a short gif and video showing how easy it is to provide feedback to students using the Screencast Chrome extension. You can even have students do the same with their fellow classmates. Take a look: https://goo.gl/2RWHEo

YOUR OWN PERSONAL EMOJI As teachers, we do so much online communication with students, wouldn’t it be nice to have an emoji to represent ourselves? First, create a unique avatar that represents you. Then, using Bitmoji, add stickers to represent emotions. Bitmoji can be added as a Chrome Extension making it easy to insert whenever you need it. When you send email through GMail and want to include your bitmoji, simply click on the icon. When you are using a G Suite item such as Google Docs, simply click on the Chrome extension and select which one you want to use. You can resize your bitmoji to fit and can move it around. Have fun and try one today!

How to Add the Grammarly Extension to the Chromebooks

Google Keep & Google Docs

Google Keep + Google Documents Together at last Okay, I admit I am slightly old-fashioned when it comes to making list &/or notes. I have a pile of scrap paper on my desk in which I like to grab to jot down a note or two while I work. In most cases, this system works very well as the notes serve only a temporary purpose. Once I am done, there is something intrinsic about throwing this scrap paper away. But there are times when I find myself hurriedly stuffing these small pieces of paper in my computer bag or purse as time runs out or the days become hectic. This results in a huge mess as these small single pieces of paper just beg to get lost. Enter  Google Keep .... Google Keep  is an easy to use platform designed by Google as a way to store your lists, notes, doodles, and much more. For some, it was useful but having to open up a separate browser or app wasn’t that convenient. Today, that’s no longer a problem. Google Keep is now integrated within Google Docs wi...

Below are just a few of my favorite ones. goo.gl URL Shortener :  If I could only use one, this is the one I would choose. It is so easy to use and for someone who shares links to websites, it is a must have. Very simply put, it takes those long url’s and shortens them into an easier format.
