Mathreps

  Created for students of all ages, Mathreps is a website with FREE ready-to-use templates to provide students with math practice working to mastery levels. Here is a link to a quick 30 second video intro. Each template comes with a quick guide to the lesson as well as the standards that are covered. The templates are mostly in Google Slides format. Quizizz Updates!

  Quizizz is a website that allows teachers to create a quiz in a game-show style to share with students. Recently, it has gone through some exciting changes and upgrades with the addition of AI. It has also evolved to be more of an interactive lesson platform going beyond simple quizzes. (but only with a school subscription) Use Quizizz to help students review materials before a formal assessment, check for understanding, introduce a topic, or provide for deep thinking and discussions. Some of the new updates includes the ability to simply copy and paste in a URL of a youtube video (that has a transcript) and have Quizizz create a quiz for you. The built-in AI will create a quiz from an existing Google Slide presentation, document, website link or a simple prompt as well. Canva’s Newest News - Biggest Educational Launch Ever

  Most of us have come to love using Canva to quickly create posters, signs, and even presentations. Over the past year, they have added many different AI tools to make most creation projects easier and more time efficient. Now, they have branched out and created even more tools to help teachers and students in education.  Today it was announced by Canva “a whole new suite of products that turn Canva into the all-in-one classroom tool educators have been asking for.”  Go to Canva for Education and sign up for a free account. Draft an Email in Google Docs (and reuse it over and over again)

  Google is making it easier to quickly create a product that can save you time throughout your very busy day of teaching. One of those features includes being able to draft an email in Google Docs. Once you have it drafted, it is very easy to reuse the same email over again later on. You can even use the power of Chat Gpt or Bard to help you compose the email. Add Emoji’s in Google Sheets and Docs

  A new update from Google is the ability to add Emoji’s to a Google Sheet in the comments section! When you reply to a comment, you will see the emoji icon right next to it. You can also add in an emoji by going to Insert - Emoji using the toolbar. 😁 Building Blocks in Google Docs A new feature to Google Docs is in the inclusion of Building Block buttons at the top when you create a new document. What these do is to quickly allow you to format the google doc for Team Notes, Email Template and a few more to get started. You can also insert the building blocks whenever you want by either using Insert in the toolbar or typing in @ to open up the menu. 

Kidoodle.TV

  Kidoodle.tv was created as a safe place for children to stream their favorite television shows and movies. Although it was created with parents in mind, there are many different educator activities included - including free lesson plans and activities. To get started, you will need to create an account as a parent. Next, you can do a search for a specific show or type in a topic such as Math or Science. It will bring you all of the short videos for you to play. (most videos are less than ten minutes long). To access the teacher resource center, you can go to https://teachers-corner.kidoodle.tv/ There are lessons for grades Kindergarten through grade 3. If you find a lesson plan you want to use, all you have to do is download the file. Each lesson plan includes an activity for students to do.   Recently, there has been a lot of news in the tech world evolving around tools that many of us use. I thought I would give you the quick summary or catch-up: Jamboard has been announced by Google to no longer exist after October 2024. If you use and like Jamboard, you might want to switch to Figjam.   To learn more about Figjam, Matt Miller has a wonderful blog post all about it.  Eric Curtis will provide a FREE webinar on how to use Figjam. If you can not attend on the day or time, registration allows you to still view the information on your own time. ChatGPT will now be able to access real time data on the internet. No more lag on data from 2023. ChatGPT released a Teacher’s Guide to its product. One thing to note, according to them and other AI companies, the AI detectors do not work .   Are you looking for a fun activity to help teach math concepts such as telling time, using a number line, or understanding fractions? Take a look at all of the FREE math apps available from MathLearningCenter. The apps can be used on an iPad or a Chromebook. You can even use most of them straight from a website without downloading the app itself. In addition to providing many wonderful apps, MathLearningCenter has curriculum guides and lesson plans created for teachers from Kindergarten through grade 5. On top of the apps, there is a really cool home connection in which activities can be done either in class or at home with the parents for more practice.
