Technology News Catch-up

Recently, there has been a lot of news in the tech world evolving around tools that many of us use. I thought I would give you the quick summary or catch-up:

  • Jamboard has been announced by Google to no longer exist after October 2024. If you use and like Jamboard, you might want to switch to Figjam.

    • To learn more about Figjam, Matt Miller has a wonderful blog post all about it.

    • Eric Curtis will provide a FREE webinar on how to use Figjam. If you can not attend on the day or time, registration allows you to still view the information on your own time.

  • ChatGPT will now be able to access real time data on the internet. No more lag on data from 2023.

  • ChatGPT released a Teacher’s Guide to its product. One thing to note, according to them and other AI companies, the AI detectors do not work. Even ChatGPT can not detect if the writing was written by itself or not.

  • Live pointers are now available when presenting in Google Slides.

  • Google Forms now allows you to add a hyperlink as well as use Bold, Italics, and Underline format features.

  • Many educators are raving about using Podcasts in their curriculum for all ages. Here is an article that has links to some podcasts for elementary students.

Rick Riordan is coming to Flip! He is just one of the many events offered by Flip (formerly Flipgrid) for your classroom for free! Check out what events are coming in October.
